Hoda — A-Level Arabic tutor, examiner, and founder of Taalam Learning Centre

ArabicAlevel.com is written and taught by one person, on every side of Arabic teaching: the classroom, the mark scheme, and the curriculum.

Hoda is the founder of Taalam Learning Centre. She is a graduate of Al-Azhar University in Egypt and a certified teacher of Arabic as a Second Language from Goldsmiths, University of London. She has developed Arabic curriculum at the University of Strathclyde, and she is a GCSE Arabic examiner for a leading assessment board.

The range is the point. Fifteen years of teaching means she has seen how students at every starting point actually progress. Designing curricula at university level means she plans two years backwards from the assessment rather than lesson by lesson. And marking Arabic papers means she has read thousands of real scripts from the other side of the mark scheme.

Being fluent in Arabic is not the same as knowing how a response is read and scored. Only one of those is what you’re assessed on — and it’s the one that’s hardest to find in an Arabic tutor.

Why this site exists

There’s less good A-Level Arabic material online than for almost any other subject. ArabicAlevel.com is an attempt to be the clearest source on the internet for the Edexcel A-Level (9AA0) — the specification, the set texts, and the research question — written for the student actually taking it.

It’s a sibling of ArabicGCSE.com, and part of Taalam Learning Centre.
